History

1950

Established as Chuo Press Kogyo K.K. (Imagawa-cho, Suginami-ku, Tokyo).

1952

First throttle levers developed, manufactured and marketed.
Head office and factory moved to present site.

1954

First clutch levers developed, manufactured and marketed.

1955

First air cleaners developed, manufactured and marketed.

1960

First recoil starters developed, manufactured and marketed.

1962

Designated as model factory or rationalization (by Director of Small and Medium Enterprise Agency). Designated as such a total of six times up to 1972.

1964

Takasaki factory opened.
Tank caps and Fuel filters developed, manufactured and marketed.

1968

Name changed to Starting Industrial Co., Ltd.

1969

Recieved capital from Tokyo Small Business Investment Co., Ltd.

1971

Hamamatsu branch office opened.

1972

Tokyo factory merged with Takasaki factory.
First cord reels developed, manufactured and marketed.

1973

Kan-ichi Harada was awarded the Medal with Yellow Ribbon.

1974

Main office building of Takasaki factory completed.

1977

Starting Kenzai Co., Ltd established.

1978

Akashi branch office opened.

1979

First lifters for lighting appliances developed, manufactured and marketed.

1980

Tooling factory completed.

1981

Kan-ichi Harada was also awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays.

1985

Completion of new parts factory (Plastic injection molding and spiral spring forming factory).
Total number of recoil starters produced exceeded the 50 million mark.

1986

First nylon cord cutters developed, manufactured and marketed.
Head office building completed.

1987

Masao Harada became President.
Kan-ichi Harada took position as Chairman.

1988

Akashi branch office moved to Kobe.

1989

First Cell-recoil starters developed, manufactured and marketed.

1990

Auto lifters of lighting appliances developed, manufactured and marketed.

1994

Starting USA Corporation established.

1995

Total number of recoil starters produced exceeded the 100 million mark.

1999

TPM Merit award.

2000

ISO9001 Certification acquired.

2001

Hamamatsu and Kobe branch offices were integrated into the head office.
Embedded-damper recoil starters developed, manufactured and marketed.
Power accumulated recoil starters developed, manufactured and marketed.

2003

Establishment of local entities in Thailand, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.
Total number of recoil starters produced exceeded the 150 million mark.

2006

ISO14001 Certification acquired.

2007

Takasaki factory received the 2007 Gunma Prefecture Director of Labor Award for safety and hygiene (the prize of excellence).

2008

Masao Harada was awarded “Excellent Manager and International Contributor Award.” from the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun.
